I've been eating Quonset Pizza since I was 15 years old going to West Campus. I am 78 years old and had left Waukegan after my Military in 1970. I would drive from our new home in Scottsdale, Az to visit and always got Quonset. We've had Louis's but nothing was like Quonset. I had 6 cheeze, sausage mushroom and onion pies made, put them on dry ice and took them back with me. They never tasted the same in my oven. We now live in Florida and when i went back the last several times, I could they changed. My daughter just sent me 6 Quonset Pizza's for Christmas. They don't taste anything like a Quonset Pizza. Not much taste and nothing like the old Quonsets. Sad!
Quonset is exactly the kind of place I had in mind - something within 15 minutes of where we would be, when we're never there. It's like we've given ourselves license to explore things that don't normally get explored, because we know the payoff will be worth it, because the payoff is pizza!

I'm from Waukegan. So happy you went to Quonset. Love that place. My family's go-to order has always been sausage, green pepper, onion.
